After a gay man lost touch with his family when he came out, he had to slowly rebuild his relationship with them when his baby was born. However, one Christmas, they overstepped their boundaries.
A Reddit user pleaded with others on the platform to tell him whether or not he was being ridiculous by kicking his family out of his house at one in the morning on Christmas Eve because they had crossed the line.
He knew what his family did was wrong, but he worried that he had been overdramatic about the situation and that something terrible could have happened to his family when they left his house.

The man was upset because his family had done something he specifically asked them not to do. So he turned to Reddit to ask other users if he was right to tell them to leave his and his husband’s home.
Three years ago, when the COVID-19 pandemic gripped the world, a gay man shared his story on Reddit, hoping to get advice. He explained: “I lost touch with my family in my early 20s after coming out.”

He built a life for himself, got married, and he and his husband welcomed a son. After the baby was born, he said, “They reached out after my son was born talking about joys of family and that they wanna be grandparents.”
Although the man had lost touch with his family, he said, “We’ve been very slowly building our relationship.” As they rebuilt their relationship, the man noticed that his family had no sense of boundaries, which made it difficult.

When the man made the Reddit post, his parents would only call or visit him to see and speak to his son and make snide remarks about the poster. However, one Christmas, the man put his foot down.
Two years after the man’s son was born, amid the pandemic, his parents phoned and asked if they could come and stay in his three-bedroom house, as they lived five hours away, to spend Christmas with their grandson.

The man told his family they couldn’t do that because of the pandemic. Still, they insisted, stating they would visit for just a day. But the man pointed out that a day would make no difference as they would still be in their home.
While the man thought they had settled the matter, he was surprised when his family members showed up at his doorstep unannounced at 1:00 a.m. on Christmas Eve.
There he was, staring at his parents, sister, brother, their spouses, and children, a total of nine people. Their plan was to stay over so their grandson could spend Christmas with his cousins and create memories.
