“We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce, and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer,” the actress’s children wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). Kirstie’s cancer was reportedly discovered shortly before. But after a courageous fight, she died surrounded by her closest family.

The star rose to fame in the iconic TV series, “Cheers,” where she started as Rebecca Howe. Her children and grandchildren will remember her fierce acting and loving character forever.

Her role in “Cheers” earned her a Gold Globe nomination and an Emmy award. Kirstie was also the lead character in the sitcom “Veronica’s Closet,” which ran from 1997 to 2000. It has been more than a year since her passing, and on January 13, 2024, her loved ones will be marking what would have been her 73rd birthday.

Kirstie Alley’s Family

Kirstie Alley married her high school sweetheart, Bob Alley, in 1970 but divorced in 1977. After their split, she tied the knot with Parker Stevenson in 1983. The couple adopted two children together.

Their son William arrived in 1992, and they brought their daughter Lillie home two years later. Kirstie kept her children out of the limelight, but her close friends saw her embrace motherhood and could attest that she was a proud mother.

One of her close friends, Kathy Najimy, said she was a fun mom. She recalled a time she jumped into the pool with her clothes on. Once, her daughter asked for a doll house, and instead of buying one, Kirstie opted to build one that fit three people.

Friends revealed Kirstie said she was not the mother who spoiled her children. She simply chose to do things more grandly. In 2016, her son, William, welcomed his first child, Waylon, with his wife, Sarah Parker.

Kirstie announced the news on Twitter and said, “When your son has a son…bliss,” accompanied by a picture of William holding his newborn son. Though Kirstie kept her family life primarily private, she still gave fans a glimpse into her happy life as a grandmother. She once tweeted that William needed to get her grandson a small diaper that fit him better.

Kirstie welcomed two more grandchildren; her daughter Lillie had a son in 2021, making him the third grandchild. Lillie decided to keep her child’s name private.

Although Kirstie and her children decided not to share pictures of the babies, the television star assured her fans that they were super cute. Her children know her to be full of passion, “zest,” and willingness to live her life to the fullest.

She also had a deep love for animals, and her kids will always be grateful for her lessons and will continue to lead a life with the same rigor as their mother.

Kirstie’s ex-husband also mourned her death. Stevenson wrote a sweet tribute to Kirstie and expressed his gratitude for the years they shared and the two children they have. He ended his message with the words, “You will be missed. With love Parker.”

As an animal lover, Kirstie used to keep rail-tailed lemurs in a chase in the front yard, along with cats, squirrels, and birds. Her Italian-villa-style house was built in 1939, and the late star shared the process of some of her renovations.

The house is detailed with hand-painted murals, gilded molding, and three French doors that lead to the dining space and open to a beautiful terrace. It is also decked with a grand circular entrance, an antique marble carved fireplace, and a long driveway.

The dining space is also accented with beautiful stained windows and wood beams. These frame and add more structure to the room. The kitchen looks luxurious, with glossy floors, marble countertops, and vaulted ceilings that make the room feel grand.

Kirstie’s house had a spacious guest bedroom and the original vintage bathroom with water-blue tiles and details of sea creatures around the room. Not to forget the ballroom-sized living room that was proportionally furnished and a library, which also served as a game room. The inspiration behind the house’s interior design was “cozy cozy cozy,” as Kirstie described.

After putting her mansion on the market, Kirstie tweeted that she looked forward to living a simpler life. Kirstie also discovered that she had a different perspective on what she considered necessary and valuable, so she took herself out of her comfort zone.

The Emmy Award winner’s Clearwater, Florida home, which she bought from singer Lisa Marie Presley for $1.5 million more than two decades ago, was put on sale for $6 million in February 2023. It was her final home.

A year following her death, her children also put her personal belongings on sale. “Our mom collected so many fun and unique things over her incredible life. We want to share some of them with others in the hopes of spreading her love of decorating,” said Lillie and True in December 2023.

The actress’s house had multiple famous neighbors, “Big Bang Theory” star Jim ParsonsRob Pattinson, Noah Wylie, and Tim Curry. Kirstie was a woman with a big heart enough to hold love for the people in her life, her love for creativity, and not forget her passion for animals. She fought a great fight, and we wish her friends and family strength as they mourn this significant loss.
